Virtual Akron

Located near the Happy Days Visitors Center (a trail connects the two) Virginia Kendall provides Akronites with a wide range of activities for all seasons. From climbing the ledges and watching the sunset from the overlook in the warmer months, to sledding and cross-country skiing in the winter, Virginia Kendall is truly one of the most enjoyable and diverse areas of our parks.

Ritchie Ledges, one of Virginia Kendall's most popular features, gives visitors a glimpse into an anceint past when the massive rocks we see today were formed from sediments of the bed of a muggy swamp 320 million years ago. Today the Ledges are home to a wide variety of plants and animals perfectly adapted to the cool, damp climate found here.
